IceHogs Close Season Series with Wild Today
Today's showdown between the IceHogs and Wild is the 10th and final meeting between the two clubs this season with the IceHogs holding a 4-4-1-0 record in the head-to-head series and are 3-1-0-0 at BMO Harris Bank Center. The two clubs began their two-game Mother's Day weekend series at Iowa on Friday, with the Wild prevailing 6-1 at Wells Fargo Arena. Forward Mitch Fossier scored the lone goal for the IceHogs.
Home Sweet, Home!
Entering today, the IceHogs are riding a three-game home winning streak dating back to Apr. 7 with victories over the Chicago Wolves and Grand Rapids Griffins. The IceHogs defeated the Wolves 4-3 on Apr. 7 thanks to a hat-trick performance from forward Brandon Pirri and earned a 4-3 shootout win against Chicago on Apr. 17. In their most recent home contest, the IceHogs earned an exciting 3-2 win against the Griffins on May 1 in front of fans for the first time in 422 days!
Pirri Sets IceHogs Season Record
Forward Brandon Pirri scored a power-play goal against Grand Rapids in the IceHogs' last home win to extend his personal point streak to a team season-high five games (six goals, two assists). His streak passes the previous four-game mark set by defenseman Cody Franson (two goals, four assists from Mar. 16-28), forward Dylan McLaughlin (two goals, five assists from Mar. 13-22), forward Reese Johnson
(three goals, three assists from Mar. 7-27) and forward Josiah Slavin
(three goals, two assists from Mar. 28-Apr. 13). As if that were not impressive enough, Pirri has accomplished this while only playing in five total games with the IceHogs this season.
Meijer First Goal Frenzy Continues to Rise
When the IceHogs score the first goal of each game this season, Meijer will donate $50 to Rock House Kids, a 501(c)(3) foundation helping feed Rockford’s inner-city youth in a safe nurturing environment. Fans can guess who scores the first IceHogs goal of the game on the IceHogs mobile app for a chance to win a $25 gift card to Meijer. This season's donation to Rock House Kids is currently at $650!
Regula Adds to List of IceHogs NHL Graduates
On Thursday, defenseman Alec Regula became the 130th IceHogs player to graduate to the National Hockey League and the 99th to go from Rockford to the Chicago Blackhawks as he made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks against the Hurricanes. Regula racked up four points (three goals, one assist) in 16 games with the IceHogs during his rookie season this year. With his NHL debut, Regula joins forwards MacKenzie Entwistle, Phillip Kurashev, and Reese Johnson, defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk and goaltender Kevin Lankinen in IceHogs alums to make their NHL debut this season.
