Rockford, IL – The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL), close their two-game back-to-back set against the Iowa Wild tonight at 6:00 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA. Tonight is the eighth of 10 scheduled meetings between the two clubs this season.

IceHogs Close Back-to-Back Set at Iowa Tonight
The IceHogs close their fifth of seven back-to-back sets this season tonight at Iowa. In Game 1, the IceHogs hold a record of 1-4-0 of the back-to-back and a 3-1-0 record in the second contest. After tonight, the IceHogs have two more back-to-backs on the schedule: May 9-10 vs. Iowa and at Chicago, May 14-15 vs. Chicago and at Chicago
First Goal Frenzy Continues for IceHogs
The IceHogs have opened the game scoring in each of the last six contests and in seven of the last eight games. With each game-opening goal scored by the IceHogs, Meijer donates $50 to Rock House Kids and this season’s total is currently at $550! The IceHogs are 4-6-1-0 when scoring the game’s opening goal.
Defend Home Ice
In the head-to-head series between the IceHogs and Wild this season, the home team has become the dominant club. The IceHogs are 3-1-0 against the Wild at BMO Harris Bank Center while the Wild are 3-0-0 against the IceHogs so far this year at Wells Fargo Arena. All time, the IceHogs are 21-10-3-3 against the Wild in Rockford and 17-17-2-0 in Des Moines.
Wild Extend Home Winning Streak Over the IceHogs
Last night's 3-2 win over the IceHogs extended the Wild's home winning streak over their Central Division rivals to nine games. The IceHogs are 0-8-1-0 against the Wild over that nine-game stretch with their last victory at Wells Fargo Arena coming on Nov. 4, 2018, 4-2. Forward Jacob Nilsson scored the game-winning goal and netminder Anton Forsberg made 31 saves in the victory.
The IceHogs have only been able to score nine goals in Des Moines during this nine-game run and have been shut out three times (all during the 2018-19 season).
Gicewicz Makes Professional Debut
Forward Carson Gicewicz made his professional debut for the IceHogs after signing with the club on April 15. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound forward agreed to terms on an AHL contract with the IceHogs through the 2022-21 season after helping the University of Massachusetts capturing their first NCAA championship in program history on April 10. Gicewicz led the Minutemen with 17 goals and was tied for third with 24 points in 28 games.
Gicewicz Joins Growing List of IceHogs Firsts
With his professional debut last night, Gicewicz became the 16th IceHogs player to make his professional or North American debut this season and the 12th to make his professional debut after coming out of the college or junior ranks. Against the Wild last night, the Orchard Park, New York, native registered one shot and hit the goal post in the second period.
