IceHogs Go Wild with Comeback Win over Wolves in Last Outing
Trailing 2-1 after the first period and 3-2 after the second last Saturday, the IceHogs fought back to defeat the Chicago Wolves, 4-3, in the shootout at BMO Harris Bank Center. The win marked the second consecutive victory for the IceHogs against the Central Division’s top team, having earned a 4-3 win at the BMO on Apr. 7.
Comeback Kids
Saturday’s comeback win marked the second victory for the IceHogs when trailing after two periods. Down 3-2 after 40 minutes to the Iowa Wild on Mar. 7, forward D. J. Busdeker scored the game-tying marker midway through the third period and forward Andrei Altybarmakian netted the game-winning goal in overtime for a 4-3 win.
IceHogs Having a First Goal Frenzy
The IceHogs have opened the game scoring in each of the last five contests and in six of the last seven games. With each game-opening goal scored by the IceHogs, Meijer donates $50 to Rock House Kids and this season’s total is currently at $500! The IceHogs are 4-5-1-0 when scoring the game's opening goal.
Shot, Shot, Shot, Shot, Shot, Shot, Shot…EVERYBODY!
Saturday’s showdown vs. Chicago also marked a new season-high for the IceHogs, 41 shots on goal with 16 of the 18 IceHogs skaters (goalies exempt) recorded at least one shot on goal. The feat is the most since the IceHogs recorded 39 shots vs. Chicago on Feb. 16. The 41 shots are the first time the IceHogs hit the 40-mark since the final game of the 2019-20 season, Mar. 8 at Chicago, when Wolves goalie Garrett Sparks made 38 saves on 40 shots in a 3-2 overtime win. The last time the IceHogs hit above 40 was Nov. 8, 2019 in a 4-0 loss to Manitoba behind goalie Mikhail Berdin’s 41-save shutout.
Hello Again Des Moines
