Forward Brandon Pirri scored twice and defenseman Lucas Carlsson found the net in their first games with the Rockford IceHogs (1-7-1-0) this season and defensemen Nicolas Beaudin and Wyatt Kalynuk each added two assists in a 9-4 setback to the Grand Rapids Griffins (5-3-0-0) at BMO Harris Bank Center Wednesday night. Defenseman Cody Franson is tied for fourth in the American Hockey League among blueliners with eight points, is tied for third among defensemen with five power-play points, and tied for fourth with four power-play assists.

Forward Chris Wilkie is tied for the American Hockey League lead and leads all rookies with two shorthanded goals and is tied for first in the AHL with two shorthanded points.

Forward John Quenneville is tied for second in the AHL with nine minor penalties.

IceHogs Notes

IceHogs Flying After Back-to-Back Wins at the BMO
The IceHogs earned back-to-back wins this weekend with a pair of thrilling victories over the Iowa Wild. Cody Franson (two goals, one assist) and Nicolas Beaudin (three assists) led the IceHogs on Saturday with a 3-2 win and Andrei Altybarmakian netted two goals including the overtime game-winning maker Sunday in a 4-3 comeback win.

Close Calls
Six of the IceHogs’ 11 games have been decided by one goal including the last two contests. The IceHogs are 3-2-1-0 in one-goal games this season and are 1-1 in overtime.

Kalynuk Makes NHL Debut Sunday
Defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk became the 126th IceHogs alumni to reach the National Hockey League and the 96th to go from Rockford to the Chicago Blackhawks yesterday as he made his NHL debut against the Tampa Bay Lighting. In four games with the IceHogs this season, Kalynuk has one goal and five assists for six points.

Delia Shines in IceHogs Wins Over the Weekend
Goaltender Collin Delia earned both wins for the IceHogs against the Iowa Wild this weekend, tying a season-high for IceHogs goaltenders with 35 saves in the 3-2 win on Saturday and made 27 stops in the 4-3 overtime victory Sunday. He is 2-2-0 in four appearances this season with a 5.16 goals-against average and .858 save percentage.

Welcome Back, Brandon Pirri
Pirri made his return to an IceHogs uniform for the first time since 2014 on Wednesday against Grand Rapids and scoring a pair of goals. His two markers pull him within two tallies of tying Mark McNeill for second all-time in IceHogs goal scoring (72).

Mitchell Looks to Reach 500 Professional Games This Week
Through 498 professional games in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, and overseas, IceHogs team captain Garrett Mitchell has racked up 71 goals and 85 assists for 156 points. Mitchell looks to play in Game 499 on Thursday vs. Grand Rapids and hit 500 on Saturday at Grand Rapids.
