Comcast SportsNet Sets All-Time Blackhawks Ratings Record

Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of Chicago Blackhawks NHL Playoffs coverage in HD, delivered its highest Blackhawks rating ever last evening (April 27) -- a 5.28 household rating for its live coverage of the Blackhawks Game 6 first round clinching victory over the Calgary Flames.

For last nightā€™s thrilling playoff win by the Blackhawks, Comcast SportsNet attracted approx. 184,400 households for the entire game and scored a 6.94 peak rating during the 9:45 PM quarter-hour (over 242,400 households). For the entire six-game series, Comcast SportsNet garnered close to one million Chicago TV households (946,576) tuning in for the networkā€™s exclusive first round game coverage. Plus ā€“ Comcast SportsNet attracted an additional 504,375 households tuning in to Chevy Blackhawks Pre-Game Live and Smirnoff Vodka Post Game Live throughout the first round.

The final household average for all six games of the Blackhawks-Flames first round series was a 4.52 (3.41 for Adults 25-54). In comparison to the last time the Blackhawks were in the playoffs in 2002 (a total of four first round game telecasts vs. St. Louis on Fox Sports Net ā€“ 1.93 household average), first round ratings were up over 134% this year. Comcast SportsNet was also the #1-highest rated television network in the Chicago market last night for the key advertising demo of Adults 25-54 for the entire length of the game (8:30-11:15 PM), a feat Comcast SportsNet also accomplished for Games 2, 3 and 5 (including portions of Games 1 & 3). In addition, Comcast SportsNet was #1 overall in the market for Men 18-49 & Men 25-54 for the entire length of the game of every first round telecast.

During the 9:45 PM quarter-hour last evening when Comcast SportsNet was carrying the Blackhawks and the Cubs game aired on Comcast SportsNet ā€œPlusā€ (CSN+/CLTV), the network posted a combined 11.3 household rating on both networks (approx. 400,000 households). Comcast SportsNet will announce its second round Blackhawks NHL Playoffs coverage schedule later this week.
