The Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned center Tim Brent to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

The 25-year-old forward has posted two penalty minutes in two games with the Blackhawks this season, which includes being held scoreless in 6:34 of ice time in the squad’s 3-2 shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday. The Cambridge, Ontario, native leads active IceHogs with 19 goals, 31 assists and 50 points in 50 AHL contests this season. His 19 goals are a professional career high, while his 50 games played include 14 multiple-point performances.

A fifth-year pro, Brent was acquired by Chicago from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Danny Richmond on July 17, 2008. He has recorded one goal and eight penalty minutes in 18 career National Hockey League games, which includes being held scoreless in one appearance with Pittsburgh last season. He also skated in 15 contests with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2006-07 campaign.
