The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled center Tim Brent from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Brent, who turns 25 today, made his Blackhawks debut in the team’s 3-2 overtime win over the Anaheim Ducks at the United Center on March 3, accruing two penalty minutes in 10:07 of ice time. He was acquired by Chicago from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Danny Richmond on July 17, 2008.

The Cambridge, Ontario, native leads active IceHogs with 19 goals, 31 assists and 50 points in 50 AHL contests this season. His 19 goals are a professional career high, while his 50 games played include 14 multiple-point performances.

A fifth-year pro, Brent has recorded one goal and eight penalty minutes in 17 career National Hockey League games, which includes being held scoreless in one appearance with Pittsburgh last season. He also skated in 15 contests with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2006-07 campaign.

Brent notched professional career in assists (43) points (61) and penalty minutes (79) in 74 regular-season matchups with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season. He shared the AHL lead with 12 goals and tied for third overall with 27 points in 23 postseason games last year to help Wilkes-Barre/Scranton reach the Calder Cup Finals. Overall, he has tallied 183 points (73G, 110A) and 246 penalty minutes in 253 career AHL contests.
