TURNER RECALLED FROM GWINNETT
Blueliner to join team Wednesday in Peoria
Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced Wednesday that the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs have recalled defenseman Brennan Turner from the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL).
The recall is the second of the 2008-09 season for the 6-3, 220 pound Turner, who signed an AHL contract with Rockford on August 8, 2008. The rookie defenseman has appeared in two games with the IceHogs and has a plus/minus rating of -1. Turner’s season debut for the Hogs was on January 20 when he recorded his first AHL point, an assist, in Iowa.
Turner has played in 44 ECHL games, 29 with the now defunct Fresno Falcons and 15 with the Gwinnett Gladiators. In Fresno, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native tallied two goals and two assists. With the Gladiators, the defenseman has chipped in six helpers.
The rookie defenseman will join the IceHogs as they finish their season high seven game road trip tonight in Peoria.
Next Home Game: Friday, Feb. 13 vs. Peoria Rivermen. Rockford returns home at 7:30 p.m. The IceHogs come home after a 19 day hiatus to take on the Rivermen. The first 1,500 kids to the game 14-and-under will receive an IceHogs Youth Jersey courtesy of Feldco Windows and Doors, FOX 39 and 104.9 FM, WXRX.
Kids can enter to win four (4) tickets in the Press Box Suite for the Feb. 13 IceHogs game against Peoria inside Feldco at 747 South Perryville Road in Rockford. The winner and three friends will receive VIP treatment for the night and will get a visit from an IceHogs player during the game.
