In conjunction with News Talk720 WGN, the Chicago Blackhawks announced today the hiring of Judd Sirott as the team’s radio studio host for the 2008-09 season.

Prior to joining the new radio home of the Blackhawks, Sirott, a native of Arlington Heights and graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, called National Hockey League games nationally for HDNet for the last two years. In his current position, he will supplement the live game coverage of John Wiedeman and Troy Murray.

"The Blackhawks are proud to welcome one of the premier hockey experts in the NHL," said Blackhawks Senior Vice President of Business Operations Jay Blunk. "Judd will be helping to build the Blackhawks brand on the most powerful sports station in the country. We look forward to his contribution during our broadcast."

Previously, Sirott, 39, was the voice of the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves from the team’s inception in 1994 to 2006, which includes serving as the team’s lead announcer for all television broadcasts.

"We are delighted to welcome Judd back to WGN Radio," said News Talk720 WGN Sports Director Dave Eanet. "His National Hockey League experience and expertise, along with a lifetime of following the Blackhawks, make him the ideal choice to join John and Troy on our broadcasts of Blackhawks hockey."

Sirott began his Chicago radio career as an intern and producer at WGN. He also served as a weekend host, field reporter and executive producer for WSCR 670 "The Score" in Chicago and called five years of CCHA hockey, which includes four years at his alma mater, the University of Michigan, from 1987 to 1991.
