RENOVATIONS CONTINUE AT THE BMO
Lower bowl seats all but gone
Rockford, Ill.- One look at the inside of the BMO Harris Bank Center and it looks a long ways from hockey season.
BMO Harris Bank Center and local construction crew members are in the final stages of removing the seats and seating structure in the building’s lower level, making way for a new, updated seating system. The lower level seat renovation and redesign will add over 300 seats to the venue. The current seating capacity at the BMO for IceHogs games is 5,767. Last season, the IceHogs hosted five sellouts.
S & S Recycling of Rockford is recycling all of the materials from the old seating structure which was originally installed when the arena was built in 1981.
The seats, along with a new ice chiller, are the first two items on the BMO’s renovation check list before the start of the Rockford IceHogs regular season home opener, which is slated for Saturday, Oct. 19.
When fans enter the BMO Harris Bank Center on Oct. 19, they’ll notice renovated concession stands and new high definition lighting inside the arena. Visiting locker rooms will also receive a makeover before the start of the campaign.
Since 2007, the 32-year-old arena has gone through over $25-million of renovations, including suites, new video board, club lounge, new entrance, merchandise store, press box and locker room facility.
