NIEMI RETURNED ON LOAN FROM BLACKHAWKS

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced Wednesday that goaltender Antti Niemi has been returned on loan to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

The netminder will be abvailable to play tonight against the Peoria Rivermen at 7 p.m. at Carver Arena.

Niemi had been on the Hawks roster since Feb. 12 following an injury to Nikoali Kahbibbulin. The Vantaa, Finland native backed up Christobal Huet for seven games with the BlackHawks. Niemi has posted a 13-12-2 record in 29 games for the IceHogs this season, along with a 2.47 GAA and .910 save percentage.

Next Game: Friday, Feb. 27 at Houston Aeros. The puck drops at 7:35 p.m. Rockford heads south to Texas for the first time this season when they battle the Aeros at the Toyota Center. The game is the first of three in Houston on the season and third of six between the West Division foes.
