The McCormick Foundation and Chicago Blackhawk Charities (CBC) are pleased to announce the creation of the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation.
Through this partnership, the CBC will reach out to fans to raise money for urgent needs and important local causes. Funds raised will go to the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund and then will be matched at 50 percent by the McCormick Foundation.

Priority areas of focus for the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund include the following:

- Aiding those who are homeless, ill, abused or otherwise at risk
- Treating individuals suffering from disabling effects of physical injury
- Facilitating positive educational experiences for youth

CBC donations, plus the Foundation match, will be granted to thoroughly screened nonprofit organizations providing critical services to the Chicagoland community. Additionally, the McCormick Foundation and CBC will absorb all administrative costs, ensuring that 100 percent of every dollar donated to the Fund, and the matching dollars, will be available for grants to nonprofit agencies.

“The Blackhawks and their fans are winners on and off the ice,” said David D. Hiller, president and CEO of the McCormick Foundation. “We are so proud to team up with them to provide help for Chicagoans most in need.”

“This partnership will allow Chicago Blackhawk Charities to extend its reach further than ever before,” said John McDonough, President of the Chicago Blackhawks. “Working with McCormick Foundation gives both organizations the opportunity to make an enormous positive impact on the city of Chicago for many years to come.”

The Chicago Blackhawks join the Foundation’s nationwide network of Communities Program partners, which include newspapers, broadcasters and sports teams. In 2009, the Communities Program and its partners raised more than $11.6 million from tens of thousands of donors, and granted nearly $22 million to nonprofit agencies from coast to coast.
