IT'S A BEST OF THREE FOR CHICAGO AND VANCOUVER

Vancouver, B.C.-Good thing the Chicago Blackhawks didn’t take a cue from the Rockford IceHogs on comebacks. It was frequently noted through the 2008-09 season that the IceHogs failed to win a game when trailing after either the first or second period.

Tonight the Chicago Blackhawks face-off against the Vancouver Canucks in Game Five of the Western Conference Semifinals at GM Place in Vancouver with the series tied at two. Game time is 9:30 p.m.

Through the first four games, Vancouver has scored the game’s first goal to put the Hawks in a hole.

“It should be fun to see what happens if we scored first for once,” said Chicago defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson. “They’ve scored four games in a row the first goal. (In Game Four) they only scored one goal so that’s a big difference instead being under 2-0 or 3-0 like before.”

Chicago has been able to dig themselves out of deficits in three of the four games, finishing off Vancouver in two of them including the 2-1 overtime win on Thursday.

“We have that fight in us,” said winger Troy Brouwer who led Chicago with nine hits in Game Three. “Even during the regular season a lot of the time we found ourselves down and found a way to win. It’s been no different in playoffs.

“It definitely would be nice to not dig ourselves some holes so we could play with a lead for once.”

With two wins a side the series now turns into a best-of-three with Game Six slated for Monday at the United Center.

Tonight’s game can be viewed on Comcast Sports Net and can be heard on WGN Radio 720 AM.
