Rockford, Ill.- Immanuel Lutheran School in Freeport is getting a new playground thanks in part to a fundraiser that the school did with the Rockford IceHogs.
When school returns in the fall, students there will be welcomed back with a brand new playground. The students, faculty and staff participated in an IceHogs Fundraiser last season which helped raise $1,172. The school sold a total of 293 tickets to their game.
Immanuel Lutheran School was one of several schools to partake in an IceHogs Fundraiser in 2010-11. Combined, over $30,000 was generated and donated back to schools in the Northern Illinois region last year alone.
In total last season, the IceHogs raised $111,250 and in 12 seasons of professional hockey in the Forest city, the IceHogs and their generous fans have given back over $770,000 through the IceHogs Charitable Foundation to local schools and charities.
