Rockford, Ill-The Rockford IceHogs have been busy spreading holiday cheer leading up to Christmas weekend. Thanks to the IceHogs annual Teddy Bear Toss on Dec. 11, a grand total of 1,215 teddy bears were divided up amongst several hospitals and non-profit organizations in the Rockford area.
Donations were made to Rockford MELD, Catholic Charities, Carrie Lynn Children’s Center and Rockford Rescue Mission and many others.
Winger Hugh Jessiman made a visit to the children’s wing of Rockford Memorial Hospital. Jessiman handed out teddy bears donated during the Teddy Bear Toss and also visited with kids who ranged in age from one to 16-years-old.
The IceHogs mascot, Hammy, joined in the festivities as well, visiting the Catholic Charities Holiday Party, Mother Home Crisis Nursery and Santa Welcome breakfast at Cliffbreakers. Hammy visited with the children and handed out teddy bears.
