ICEHOGS SET ALL-TIME ATTENDANCE RECORD IN FINAL HOME GAME
156,352 surpasses record total from 2007-08
Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs President Mark Bernard announced that the IceHogs set a single-season attendance record in their last home game on Friday.
A total of 156,352 fans passed through the doors of the Rockford MetroCentre in 2008-09 compared to 153,056 in 2007-08. It is the second straight season that IceHogs fans have set the record for attendance. The 2008-09 per game average is 3,909, the second highest since the team formed ten years ago.
“Once again the City of Rockford and surrounding communites have gone out of the way to support the IceHogs and in doing so they have supported our affiliates, the Chicago Blackhawks,” Bernard said. “In these economic times, it is a tremendous accomplishment by our staff and community to have this kind of support in downtown Rockford.”
The 2008-09 season featured seven sellouts, four more than in 2007-08, all of which have occurred since Dec. 29, 2008. Since that date, an average of 4,247 fans have come to an IceHogs game, totaling 97,677 in 22 games.
Ten times this season, the IceHogs attendance has surpassed 5,000 fans. It is the fifth time in ten years that the IceHogs have averaged at least 3,826 per game, including the last four campaigns. The highest average was 3,973, set in 2005-06.
