Rockford, IL – The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL), wrap up their eight-game season series against the Grand Rapids Griffins tonight at 6:00 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI. The IceHogs are currently 3-4-0-0 against the Griffins this season.

Hogs Welcome Season Ticket Holders for the First Time in Over A Year
Saturday’s showdown against the Grand Rapids Griffins at BMO Harris Bank Center marked the end of a long 422-day drought of in-person IceHogs entertainment in the Stateline as the organization welcomed fans, 2021 Season Ticket Holders, into the building for the first time. Prior to the evening, the final IceHogs home game in front of fans was March 6, 2020, a 4-0 win over the Griffins.

Forward Dylan McLaughlin led the IceHogs on Saturday with a goal and an assist in the 3-2 win over the Griffins and enters tonight’s showdown on a three-game goal-scoring streak (three goals, three assists). This is Dylan’s third point streak this season with his longest coming from Mar. 13-Mar. 22 over four games with two goals and five assists.
McLaughlin Pulls Ahead in Points Lead
With this two-point game on Saturday, McLaughlin takes over the IceHogs’ team lead in points (seven goals, 12 assists for 19 points) for the first time this season, wrestling away the top spot from defenseman Cody Franson (four goals, 13 assists for 17 points). Forward Brandon Pirri scored a power-play goal on Saturday vs. Grand Rapids to extend his personal point streak to an IceHogs season-high five games (six goals, two assists). His streak passes the previous four-game mark set by defenseman Cody Franson (two goals, four assists from Mar. 16-28), forward Dylan McLaughlin (two goals, five assists from Mar. 13-22), forward Reese Johnson (three goals, three assists from Mar. 7-27) and forward Josiah Slavin (three goals, two assists from Mar. 28-Apr. 13).
Home Sweet, Home Series?
In the first five games of the head-to-head series between the IceHogs and Griffins, the road team earned every victory before the Griffins picked up a 3-2-win last Wednesday in Grand Rapids and the IceHogs earned a 3-2 win on Saturday in Rockford. Despite the early trend, the last five seasons between the two clubs have seen the home club grab the majority of the wins. The IceHogs are 15-9-0-0 against the Griffins over the last five seasons at BMO Harris Bank Center while the Griffins are 14-3-4-2 against the IceHogs during the same span at Van Andel Arena.

Tonight closes the eight-game season series between the IceHogs and Griffins with the Hogs holding a 3-4-0-0 record against their Central Division foe and currently a 2-1-0-0 standing in Grand Rapids. With a victory tonight, the IceHogs will tie their highest win total in Grand Rapids since the 2018-19 season (3-2-0-0) and their second-highest win total ever in Grand Rapids (4-0-0-0 in 2009-10).
