ICEHOGS ANNOUNCE 2013-14 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE
Hogs open home slate on Oct. 19 against Grand Rapids
Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced the club’s 2013-14 regular season schedule. The IceHogs are entering their 15th season of professional hockey in Rockford, including seventh in the AHL as the primary affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Rockford’s 76-game slate begins on Saturday, Oct. 5 in San Antonio against the Rampage. The IceHogs will begin the home portion of the schedule two weeks later on Saturday, Oct. 19 against the defending Calder Cup Champion Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Due to renovations at the BMO Harris Bank Center, the IceHogs will play their first five games on the road this season and seven of their first eight overall. For the first time since the 2008-09 campaign, Rockford will play every team in the AHL’s Western Conference, including the league’s newest members, the Iowa Wild and Utica Comets.
Overall, Rockford will face-off against Midwest Division rivals Chicago, Grand Rapids, Iowa and Milwaukee 44 times, West Division foes 20 times with the 12 remaining tilts against the AHL’s North Division. The IceHogs will play their two closest geographic rivals, Chicago and Milwaukee, 12 times each.
Unless noted, all non-Sunday games will be played at 7 p.m. while Sunday outings will start at 4 p.m. Rockford will play three home matinees in 2013-14 including Saturday, Oct. 26 (3 p.m. vs. Charlotte), Wednesday, Jan. 15 (11 a.m. vs. Abbotsford) and Monday, January 20 ( 1 p.m. vs. Toronto). The IceHogs will also play in Grand Rapids’ school day game at 10 a.m. on Nov. 6.
Of Rockford’s 38 home games, 16 fall on Saturday, 10 will be played on Friday and four on Sunday, making 30 home weekend dates.

Schedule notes:
-Seven of Rockford’s first eight games will be played on the road
-Of Rockford’s 11 games in the month of October, just two are against Midwest Division opponents
-Twice during the 2013-14 regular season, Rockford will play Milwaukee in three straight games (Jan. 24-26 and March 7-14
-November and January represent the IceHogs busiest months with 13 games, including seven home and six away games during each month
-Rockford plays just 10 times in both December and March, including five home and five road games
-After a March 4 game against Rochester, Rockford will play 13 of their final 16 contests against Midwest Division foes
-Rockford will play in Rochester on Jan. 31, the team’s first visit to the Blue Cross Arena since Feb. 2, 2009
-Rockford is scheduled to play three-games in three days six times in 2013-14
-The IceHogs will close the campaign with four of the final five games at home
