Hawks Trade Lapointe To Ottawa For Draft Pick

General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have traded forward martin Lapointe to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a 6th round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Lapointe was signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent on August 4, 2005.

This season, Lapointe had appeared in 52 games for the Blackhawks scoring 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points with 47 penalty minutes.

After signing with the Blackhawks as a free agent, Lapointe had played in all 82 games in both the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. He played in the first 45 games of this season before missing his first Blackhawks game on January 16th versus St. Louis because of the flu.

Lapointe played in 216 games as a Blackhawk scoring 30 goals to go along with 32 assists for 62 points with 102 penalty minutes.
