On Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 2:00 pm at The Nettelhorst School in Chicago forwards
Dustin Byfuglien, Tomas Kopecky and John Madden, Team President John McDonough, Senior Vice President of Business Operations Jay Blunk, General Manager Stan Bowman, 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney and officials from the school will be on hand to help unveil the brand new, state-of-the-art, fitness facility the club funded. The facility includes an equipment donation made by Good Sports, a non-profit organization that strives to increase participation in sports and fitness programs for Chicago’s youth. Now in its second year, the Blackhawks and Nettelhorst partnership was founded on an initiative to reduce childhood obesity in public schools and continues to promote a positive learning environment with a focus on health and wellness. In addition to the fitness facility, the Blackhawks have also donated a significant number books to the library that focus on sports, health and wellness.

The Nettelhorst School is a CPS (Chicago Public School) Magnet Cluster School and one of the first CPS Community Schools in Chicago. Prior to this donation, the school lacked sufficient athletic equipment and did not have a fitness facility for the students.
