Defensemen Lucas Carlsson and Wyatt Kalynuk Head to Chicago
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Lucas Carlsson and Wyatt Kalynuk have been re-assigned to the Blackhawks' active roster.
Carlsson, 23, scored a goal on Wednesday against Grand Rapids in his lone game with the club after being assigned to the IceHogs earlier that morning. The Gavle, Sweden, native appeared 10 games with the Blackhawks (no points) this season. Last season, Carlsson earned the IceHogs’ Defenseman of the Year Award for the second straight campaign after leading all team blueliners with 26 points (five goals, 21 assists) through 48 games.
Kalynuk, 23, leads the IceHogs, is tied for 16th among AHL rookies and is tied for ninth among league defensemen with six points and is tied for the team lead (Franson) with five assists in four games this season. In his last two contests (Feb. 27 at Cleveland and Wednesday vs. Grand Rapids), the Brandon, Manitoba, native racked up four assists.
The Rockford IceHogs host the Iowa Wild tonight, Saturday, Mar. 6 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 7 at 4:00 p.m. at BMO Harris Bank Center to continue a four-game homestand.
