CRAWFORD MAKES NHL POSTSEASON DEBUT
IceHogs goalie backed up in Game 3 and makes NHL postseason debut in Game 4
Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs goalie Corey Crawford suited up in relief of an injured Nikolai Khabibulin in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday and made his National Hockey League postseason debut in Game 4 on Sunday.
Crawford stopped six of seven shots for the Chicago Blackhawks in 15:55 in relief of Cristobal Huet in Game 4. After Detroit opened a 4-1 lead, Crawford entered the game in the second period. He could continue to back up Huet in Game 5 if Khabibulin is not ready to play in Detroit on Wednesday. The Red Wings lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.
Khabibulin did not dress in Game 4 due to a lower body injury.
Crawford appeared in 47 games in 2008-09 with the IceHogs. The fourth-year pro had career best marks with a 2.59 goals against average and a .917 save percentage. He was recalled once during the campaign, backing up Huet from Nov. 28, 2008 to Dec. 8, 2008. He did not appear in any games with the Blackhawks in the regular season. Crawford is 1-2-1 in seven career regular season NHL games, all with Chicago.
