BLACKHAWKS RETURN HOME DOWN 2-0
Chicago, Ill.- Down 1-0 in their best-of-seven Western Conference Finals, the Chicago Blackhawks had an opportunity to tie up the series against the Detroit Red Wings before returning home for Games 3 and 4.
Instead the Blackhawks fell 3-2 in overtime in Game 2 on Tuesday night at Joe Louis Arena and now face a must-win situation on Friday at the United Center.
Chicago tied the game midway through the third period with Jonathan Toews’ second goal of the night, but Detroit netted the overtime win 5:14 into the extra frame when Mikael Samuelsson finished off a three-on-one breakaway.
Former IceHogs Cam Barker and Kris Versteeg chipped in assists in the lost for the Hawks. Chicago outshot Detroit 39-38 on the night.
Game 3 is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday night. The game can be seen on Versus in the Rockford area.
