Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Thursday that the Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League, have assigned Right Wing Derek Nesbitt to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.
Nesbitt has appeared in 11 games in his second stint with the IceHogs, recording one goal and one assist with a plus/minus rating of -5. Nesbitt made his AHL debut with the IceHogs on Dec. 26, 2007 against Peoria.
The fifth-year pro tallied 189 points (67g-122a) in 163 games in the ECHL between 2005-2007 for the Gwinnett Gladiators and Idaho Steelheads. He was a member of the 2005-06 Gwinnett Gladiators team that went to the Kelly Cup Finals and the 2007 Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads.
Next Home Game: Friday, Nov. 20 vs. Chicago Wolves. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs are going green, literally. As a part of the IceHogs green initiative in 2009-10, the team will wear special green jerseys when they take on the Wolves. The game is sponsored by No Idle Zone. The jerseys will be raffled off on Friday night and all fans in attendance can register to win! The first 2,000 fans to the game will also receive a green T-shirt replicating the special jerseys worn by the IceHogs.
