Bickell rebounds after thumb injury to finish out third season with 14 points

Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with left wing Bryan Bickell on a one-year contract.


Bickell, 23, collected 14 points (6g-8a) and 60 penalty minutes in 42 regular season contests with the Rockford IceHogs in an injury-shortened 2008-09 season. The Orono, Ontario native was tied for the team lead with two assists in four postseason games in 2009. Bickell has notched two goals in seven career games with the Blackhawks over parts of two seasons.

The 41st overall (round 2) pick by the Blackhawks in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Bickell has appeared in 163 career AHL regular-season contests with the Norfolk Admirals (2006-07) and IceHogs (2007-09) since turning pro in 2006, registering 35 goals, 43 assists, 78 points and 178 penalty minutes. He spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67’s and Windsor Spitfires, notching 190 points (94g-96a) and 235 penalty minutes in 242 career regular-season outings.
