WGN Radio, Blackhawks To Broadcast Two 2008 Preseason Games
In conjunction with News/Talk 720 WGN, the Chicago Blackhawks announced today the team’s flagship radio station will broadcast two 2008-09 preseason home games. The first will be on Sunday, Sept. 28, when the squad hosts the Dallas Stars at 6:00 P.M., and the second on Sunday, Oct. 5, when the club battles the Colorado Avalanche at 6:00 P.M.
“The Blackhawks are proud to partner with WGN Radio in this historic venture,” Blackhawks Senior Vice President of Business Operations Jay Blunk said. “As one of the nation’s largest stations, WGN radio will help build the Blackhawks into a regional if not national brand. The preseason games represent the beginning of a new era in Blackhawks hockey.”
The games will also be streamed live on wgnradio.com and chicagoblackhawks.com and will feature the call from Play-By-Play Announcer John Wiedeman, Color Analyst Troy Murray and Studio Host Judd Sirott. In the event of a conflict with a Chicago Cubs postseason contest, the Oct. 5 Blackhawks game will only be streamed live on both websites. The pre-game show begins at 5:50 P.M. for both tilts.
"We're thrilled to provide Blackhawks fans with this preview of the new excitement that surrounds Blackhawks hockey," News/Talk 720 WGN Program Director Bob Shomper said.
The Blackhawks and News/Talk 720 WGN signed a three-year partnership on April 30, 2008, making News/Talk 720 WGN the flagship station for Blackhawk Hockey through 2010-2011. As Chicago’s top-rated station, WGN Radio’s 50,000-watt signal reaches 38 states and Canada and offers live Internet streaming available worldwide.
