The Rockford IceHogs dropped their opening game of last week’s schedule, 2-1 at Iowa on Wednesday, before bouncing back with consecutive shootout victories Saturday vs. Grand Rapids (3-2) and Sunday vs. Chicago (4-3)...The Hogs have now won three of their last four games dating to Nov. 11.
Goaltender Jeff Glass won each of his two starts last week, stopping 32 of 34 pucks against the Griffins and 34 of 37 pucks against the Wolves...Glass has now won each of his last five starts dating to Oct. 21, going 5-0-0-0 with a 2.32 GAA and .913 save percentage over that span...The netminder is tied for fourth in the AHL in wins during that stretch.
Forward Vinnie Hinostroza has points in three of his last four games and 4g-2a-6pts over his last six contests since Nov. 9...Hinostroza has now combined for 8g-9a-17pts in 17 games this season and currently leads the team and ranks tied for 13th in the entire league in scoring on the year...The forward is also tied for ninth in the AHL in goals.
Alexandre Fortin tallied two assists Sunday for his second multi-point game of the season during Rockford’s win over Chicago...The IceHogs forward went seven straight games without a point from Oct. 25 - Nov. 11 but has since scored three points (1g, 2a) over his last three games...That stretch includes his first goal for the IceHogs on Nov. 15.
Andres Martinsen joined Fortin in scoring his first goal with the IceHogs last week, potting a goal on Saturday against the Griffins...Rockford has now featured 19 different skaters to score at least one goal through the first 17 games this season...Of those 19 skaters to score a goal, nine are rookies.
The IceHogs have failed to score on the power play in five straight games and seven of the last eight dating to Oct. 31...Rockford enters the week 0-for-22 on the power-play over the last five games and is just 1-for-36 (2.8%) on the man-advantage dating to Oct. 31.
BUD LIGHT MONTHLY MONDAY HOG TALK AT VINTAGE 501
Bud Light Hog Talk returns to Vintage 501 Monday, Dec. 4 from 6-7 p.m. Vintage 501 is located in downtown Rockford at 501 E. State Street. Fans can join broadcasters Mike Peck and Brittany Toolis from 6-7 p.m. on the first Monday of every month throughout the season as the duo chats with IceHogs players, coaches and front office members. For those unable to attend the show in-person, the show will be streaming live on the Rockford IceHogs Facebook page. “Bud Light Hog Talk” will also be available on www.icehogs.com following the live show. Fans can access the podcast through the “Audio Highlights” link in the “Multimedia” menu.
UPCOMING GAMES:
Wednesday, Nov. 22: The IceHogs take on the Wild for a Thanksgiving Eve game at 7 p.m. Wednesday is the first Fas Fuel Winning Weekday of the season and the IceHogs are inviting fans to join the team on the ice following the game to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most people with facial hair.
Friday, Nov. 24: Rockford hosts Iowa for the IceHogs’ annual Military Appreciation Night, presented by Burr Pest Control. Puck drop is 7 p.m. and the Hogs will don specialty jerseys for the event, as well as an item drive to benefit the Vet Drop-in Center of Rockford. In addition, the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free baseball hat.
Saturday, Nov. 25: The Hogs travel to Chicago for the second matchup of the 2017-18 Illinois Lottery Cup. Rockford currently boasts a one-point edge in the series after notching a 4-3 shootout victory over the Wolves on Nov. 19.
