WEEK 24 REPORT: HOT HOGS HURTLE TOWARDS PLAYOFF SPOT

BACON BITS
The Rockford IceHogs notched points in each of their three games last week with wins over Iowa and Chicago and an overtime loss at Grand Rapids...The IceHogs now have points in six straight games (4-0-1-1) and are 7-1-1-1 over the last nine contests...Dating even further back to Feb. 18, Rockford has dropped just two contests in regulation over its last 11 tilts (7-2-1-1 in that span).

The IceHogs signed forward Kyle Maksimovich to an amateur tryout contract (ATO) on Sunday...Maksimovich served as team captain for the OHL’s Erie Otters this season and led the team with 66 points (31g, 35a) in 65 games...He skated alongside current Rockford IceHogs defenseman Darren Raddysh and Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat during the 2016-17 campaign with Erie and helped lead the Otters to both a regular-season title and OHL Championship.

Rockford has played in five straight one-goal games following a 3-2 win over Chicago in the most recent contest on Saturday...The Hogs boast an overall record of 17-6-4-4 in contests decided by a lone tally, and their 17 wins in one-goal games are just two shy of the league lead of 19 victories.

Matheson Iacopelli scored his 10th goal of the season during the Hogs’ win at Chicago...With the effort, Rockford now boasts eight skaters with double-digit goals during the 2017-18 campaign...Of those eight skaters with 10+ goals, five are rookies (Matthew Highmore, Iacopelli, Anthony Louis and William Pelletier and Tyler Sikura).

Anthony Louis scored a goal on Saturday and now has points in each of his last three contests...The forward leads Rockford in both scoring (37 points) and assists (25) on the year, and enters the week tied for fifth among AHL rookies in assists.

Cody Franson has tallied points in six of his last eight games with a pair of three-game point streaks..Franson has combined for eight points (3g, 5a) over his last eight games and boasts a team-high +7 rating in that span.

UPCOMING GAMES
Monday, April 19 | Rockford at Iowa (7 p.m.) The Rockford IceHogs travel to Iowa for the 11th of 12 total meetings in the season’s series. The IceHogs have posted a record of 5-4-1-0 against the Wild thus far this year.

Friday, March 23 | Milwaukee vs. Rockford (7 p.m.) The IceHogs host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Friday’s contest is Country Night with a live musical performance from local country band, “StateLine,” who will perform both pre and postgame on Friday. The first 2,500 fans in attendance can also complete their “Our Town, Our Team” bobblehead series with a free bobblehead of current Green Bay Packers defensive end and Rockford native, Dean Lowry.

Saturday, March 24 | Chicago vs. Rockford (6 p.m.) The Hogs continue the 2017-18 Illinois Lottery Cup Series with a showdown against the Wolves on Fitness Night...The first 1,000 fans will receive a free dri-fit IceHogs shirt, courtesy of Peak Fitness.

BUD LIGHT MONTHLY MONDAY HOG TALK AT VINTAGE 501
Bud Light Hog Talk returns to Vintage 501 in early April. Vintage 501 is located in downtown Rockford at 501 E. State St. Fans can join broadcasters Joseph Zakrzewski and Brittany Toolis from 6-7 p.m. on the first Monday of every month throughout the season as the duo chats with IceHogs players, coaches and front office members. For those unable to attend the show in-person, Monday’s show will be streaming live on IceHogs.com. “Bud Light Hog Talk” will also be available on www.icehogs.com following the live show. Fans can access the podcast through the “Audio Highlights” link in the “Multimedia” menu.
