WARSOFSKY, HUSSO POWER RAMPAGE TO SHOOTOUT WIN

Recap 12 15
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – David Warsofsky scored the lone goal in the shootout and Ville Husso made a career-high 43 saves to pace the San Antonio Rampage’s 2-1 victory over the Rockford IceHogs Friday night at the AT&T Center.
Warsofsky converted on his first shootout goal of the season, beating Jeff Glass glove-side for the deciding goal of the contest. Glass’ counterpart, Husso, stopped David Kampf, Anthony Louis and Luke Johnson to finish perfect in the shootout, while Glass turned away shots from Brendan Ranford and Tage Thompson before yielding the game-winning tally to Warsofsky.
The pair of netminders dueled throughout regulation, with Husso stopping all but one of Rockford’s 44 shots and Glass matching the effort by allowing a lone regulation goal on San Antonio’s 35 shots.
Glass, with the effort, has taken just two losses in regulation over his last 10 starts and is 6-2-2 in that span since Nov. 11.
Julien Nantel put San Antonio on the board in the second period when he banked in a shot for the Rampage’s only goal in regulation. The winger sent the puck on net from the below the goal line and the shot ricocheted off Glass’ outstretched leg to bounce back into the net for the first goal of the game. The tally was his third goal in the month of December and boosted San Antonio to a 1-0 lead 8:27 into the middle stanza.
With the second period winding down, former Rampage forward, Andreas Martinsen, evened the score at 17:53 after originally whiffing on a shot and burying his follow-up attempt top shelf past Husso. Martinsen has now notched 1g-3a-4pts over his last four games for the IceHogs, dating to Dec. 8.
The two teams are now scheduled for a day off tomorrow before concluding their two-game series in San Antonio at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
