The 2010 Stanley Cup® Champion Chicago Blackhawks® were the culmination of years of hard work by a franchise which had the longest current Stanley Cup® drought in the NHL. With in-depth highlights from the memorable season and playoff run, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage as well as interviews with key players and coaches, this collectible DVD is a must-have for any Blackhawks fan. The Chicago Blackhawks® 2010 Stanley Cup® Champions DVD will be available on DVD for $24.98 SRP and on Blu-Ray for $34.99 SRP. Order due date is June 22, 2010.

Over the past few years, the Chicago Blackhawks® have been a team on the rise and at the onset of the 2009-10 NHL season, many pegged them as a serious Stanley Cup® contender. With the free agent acquisition of Marian Hossa to go along with Captain Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp, Duncan Keith, Patrick Kane, Brian Campbell and Antti Niemi, the Blackhawks were widely considered the most talented team and the favorites in the Western Conference. The season got off to a fast start with the club winning 16 of their first 23 games and the team was able to carry that momentum right through Olympic break in February. After the break, Chicago was able to sustain its solid play to capture its first Central Division title and finish with the second seed in the Western Conference.

The 2010 Stanley Cup® Playoffs would serve as a showcase for the talented Chicago club. In the first round, the Blackhawks defeated the young Nashville Predators® in six games. Next up would be the Vancouver Canucks® and Hart Trophy contender Henrik Sedin. The Blackhawks were able to knock the Canucks out of the Playoffs for the second straight year, in a high energy six-game series. The Western Conference Final pitted the Blackhawks against the San Jose Sharks. Joe Thornton and the Sharks proved to be no match as the Blackhawks swept their way to the Stanley Cup® Final for the first time since 1992.

The Blackhawks charged into the 2010 Stanley Cup® Final as the clear cut favorite against the Eastern Conference seventh seed Philadelphia Flyers® who had to win on the last day of the regular season just to make the Playoffs. After each team won their first two home games of the series, the Blackhawks won a pivotal Game Five in front of a raucous crowd at the United Center in Chicago. Game Six was back in Philadelphia and the teams played to a 3-3 deadlock through regulation. It was then that Patrick Kane, living out every young hockey player’s dream, scored the game-winning goal at the 4:06 mark of overtime to end the Blackhawks’ near half-century drought and bring the Stanley Cup® back to Chicago.

“The Stanley Cup has been a long time coming for the great fans of Chicago and WHV is thrilled to give the Blackhawks faithful a DVD commemorating their team’s remarkable championship season,” said Don Polite, WHV Executive Director Partner Brands Marketing. “The Chicago Blackhawks 2010 Stanley Cup Champions DVD will give Blackhawks fans the chance to relive all of the season’s defining moments, memorable games and key play which made up the Blackhawks’ amazing Stanley Cup run.”
