WALTERS RE-SIGNS WITH ICEHOGS
Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs announced Tuesday that they have agreed to terms with forward Dane Walters on a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2015-16 season.
Walters, 26, registered one goal and five assists in 19 games played last season with the IceHogs. Prior to joining the IceHogs in 2014-15, he tallied 17 points (9g-8a) in 27 games with the East Coast Hockey League’s Toledo Walleyes.
The St. Paul, Minn. Native appeared in a combined 77 games between the ECHL’s Elimira Jackals and Toledo Walleyes in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He notched 10 goals and 13 assists in 50 games played with the Jackals in the 2013-14 season.
Before turning pro, Walters attended Western Michigan University. In four seasons he collected a total of 83 points (39g-44a) in 144 career games. The 26 year-old was elected alternate captain in 2011-12 and captain in 2012-13 in his final two years at Western Michigan. Before suiting up with the IceHogs in the 2014-15 campaign, Walters appeared in three games with the Worcester Sharks of the AHL in 2012-13.
