TWO ADDED TO THE ICEHOGS ROSTER
Hogs add Joakim Nordstrom and David Gilbert to the roster
Rockford, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that the National Hockey League club has reassigned centers Joakim Nordstrom and David Gilbert to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Nordstrom, 21, was selected by the Blackhawks in the third round (#90 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The Tyresö, Sweden native has spent the 2012-13 campaign with AIK of the Swedish Elite League, recording five goals and four assists in 43 games.
Over parts of four seasons, Nordstrom has appeared in 115 games, accumulating eight goals and nine assists. The pivot won a gold medal with Sweden during the 2012 World Junior Championships, notching five points (4g-1a) in six contests.
Gilbert, 21, has appeared in nine games with Rockford this season, recording a goal and two assists. Chicago’s seventh round selection (#209 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Gilbert has 20g-18a-38pts in 40 games with the Blaze this season.
The Chateauguay, Quebec native split time between the IceHogs and Toledo Walleye during the 2011-12 campaign. With Rockford, Gilbert notched a goal and four assists in 28 contests, while registering 18 points (6g-12a) in 29 tilts with Toledo.
Next Home Game: Saturday, Mar. 16 vs. Peoria. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs and Rivermen square off in another Illinois Lottery Cup matchup. The game is the ninth of 12 on the season between the two squads.
