Cleveland, Ohio – Brad Thiessen posted a shutout, Blake Siebenaler potted the game-winning goal to snap Jeff Glass’ shutout streak and the Cleveland Monsters (18-15-1-3) downed the Rockford IceHogs (14-21-3-3), 2-0, Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
The IceHogs suffered a role reversal from Wednesday’s blanking of Cleveland with Thiessen turning away each of Rockford’s 32 shots in his first shutout of the season. The IceHogs outshot the Monsters in all three periods, and 32-19 overall in the loss, to finish the two-game series with just one goal on 66 total shots.
Glass extended his own shutout streak to 97 minutes and 17 seconds before allowing his first goal to Siebenaler with just 3:43 remaining in the second period. The newly-signed goaltender began his IceHogs tenure with 37 consecutive saves when Siebenaler finally snuck a puck into the net on a feed from Justin Scott during a 3-on-2 chance.
Alex Broadhurst added an insurance goal six minutes into the final period to seal Cleveland’s victory.
Rockford is now 4-14-1-1 in 20 road games this season.
