Rockford, Ill.- Players hit the ice for the first day of Rockford IceHogs training camp on Sunday at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
The camp opened around 1:30 p.m. with a team meeting before 14 players skated in drills led by assistant coaches Steve Poapst and Ben Simon.
The team will continue with practice on Monday and Tuesday, leading up to the club’s first preseason game on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
The IceHogs open exhibition play on Wednesday night at Carlson Ice Arena in Rockford against the Chicago Wolves at 7:05 p.m. Rockford will skate in three overall preseason games this season.
The IceHogs training camp roster shows 28 players, including 16 forwards, nine defenseman and three goalies.
