Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Saturday that defenseman Simon Danis-Pepin was reassigned by the Chicago Blackhawks from the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) to the Rockford IceHogs (AHL). Additionally, the IceHogs have recalled center Zack Torquato on loan from Toledo.
In his second season, Danis-Pepin has played in 20 games with Rockford in 2010-11, registering a goal and two assists to go along with 18 penalty minutes. The Montreal, Quebec native shows 10 points (2g-8a) in 22 games with the Walleye in 2010-11.
Danis-Pepin, 22, skated in 38 games with the IceHogs in 2009-10 and notched a goal and seven assists with a +9 plus/minus rating. The 6-7 blueliner also appeared on 13 games with Toledo accumulating a goal and nine assists.
Torquato, 21, ranks second on the Walleye with 44 points (11g-33a) in 53 games. His 33 assists lead the club.
The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native wrapped up a five-year junior career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) last season with the Erie Otters before signing an AHL contract with the IceHogs in July.
Over his five years in the OHL, Torquato competed in 330 games (Saginaw Spirit 2005-06, ‘06-07 and Erie Otters 2006-2010), amassing 134 goals, 195 assists for 339 points.
