2021 was filled with exciting and record-setting moments in Rockford IceHogs history and as we celebrate the arrival of 2022, we thought it would be fun to look back at some of the most memorable moments from the last 365 days!
From hat tricks, teddy bear goals, goalie goals and officially joining the Chicago Blackhawks family, 2021 was a historical year to remember and we look forward to seeing you at BMO Harris Bank Center in 2022!

April 7, 2021: The Rockford IceHogs Officially Become Members of the Chicago Blackhawks Family
Governor JB Pritzker joined the Chicago Blackhawks, the City of Rockford, and the Rockford Area Venues and Entertainment Authority (RAVE) and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) in announcing a $23 million multi-year capital project to revitalize the BMO Harris Bank Center - Rockford's largest sports arena and entertainment venue.
With support from state, local and private sector partners, the project will spur regional economic development and lay the groundwork for the acquisition of Rockford-based professional hockey team, the Rockford IceHogs, by the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks.
April 7, 2021: Brandon Pirri and IceHogs Celebrate Joining Blackhawks Family with a Hat Trick vs. Chicago
After the exciting annoucement of the Rockford IceHogs joining the Chicago Blackhawks organization, forward Brandon Pirri recorded a hat trick and rookie Josiah Slavin added two assists to send the Rockford IceHogs over the Chicago Wolves, 4-3, that night at BMO Harris Bank Center.
November 7, 2021: Lukas Reichel Records Hat Trick vs. Manitoba
Apparently greatly things happen to the IceHogs when it's the 7th of the month! On this Sunday afternoon at BMO Harris Bank Center, Chicago Blackhawks prospect and IceHogs forward Lukas Reichel netted his first hat trick to send the Rockford IceHogs over the Manitoba Moose 4-3!
December 11, 2021: Carson Gicewicz Nets Record-Setting Teddy Bear Toss Goal
Forward Carson Gicewicz scored the Teddy Bear Goal and defenseman Ian Mitchell added the game-winning marker early in the third period to send the Rockford IceHogs past the Henderson Silver Knights 2-1 on Teddy Bear Toss presented by Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall! The IceHogs collected a record 4,754 stuffed animals to support Stateline families in need this Holiday season.
Since the team’s inception, the IceHogs have generated over 50,000 stuffed animals through the event, all of which are donated to local organizations.
December 17, 2021: Collin Delia Scores First IceHogs AHL Goal at Texas - 12/17/21
Goaltender Collin Delia became the first Rockford IceHogs goaltender in AHL team history and the 16th goaltender in league history to be credited with scoring a goal as the club defeated the Texas Stars 3-1 at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas!
