Toews To Miss 4 Weeks With Knee Injury

Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that center Jonathan Toews will miss the next four weeks of the season due to a sprained left knee. The injury to Toews knee occurred during the first period of the Blackhawks game on Jan. 1 in Los Angeles.

Toews, 19, along with teammate Patrick Kane, are the leading candidates for the Calder Trophy which is awarded to the NHL’s Rookie of the Year. Toews is currently tops among NHL rookies in goals scored with 15. He has also added 17 assists for 32 points which places Toews second among all rookies in scoring.

The Blackhawks next game is on Sunday, January 6 at 6:00 p.m. against the Detroit Red Wings.
