Toews to have MRI; Versteeg recalled
General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews is returning to Chicago to have an MRI performed on his left knee. Toews sprained his knee in Tuesday night’s game in Los Angeles against the Kings.
Tallon also announced that the Blackhawks have recalled RW Kris Versteeg from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.
Versteeg, 21, has played in 30 games for the IceHogs this season and is second on the IceHogs scoring list. Versteeg has nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points and a +7 rating to go along with 45 penalty minutes. Versteeg played three games with the Blackhawks earlier this season, picking up two penalty minutes.
The Blackhawks next game is on Sunday, January 6 at 6:00 p.m. against the Detroit Red Wings.
