THREE MORE SENT TO ROCKFORD
Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have assigned forwards Matt Carey and Phillip Danault and defenseman Stephen Johns to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. In addition, the team has released defenseman Cam Barker from camp.
Danault, 21, dished out an assist and registered three shots on goal in the Blackhawks 4-1 loss in their third preseason contest on Friday. The former first round draft pick (#26 overall) by the Blackhawks in 2011 tallied 26 points (6g-20a) with the IceHogs last season.
Johns, 22, skated with the IceHogs in eight games in 2013-14 following his senior season with Notre Dame. During the eight contests in Rockford, the d-man tallied a goal and four assists. In 164 career games with the Fighting Irish the defenseman compiled 15 goals and 42 assists.
Carey, 22, recently completed his first season at St. Lawrence University, recording 18 goals and 19 assists. The Hamilton, Ontario native also appeared in two games with the Blackhawks in 2013-14, registering a goal.
