Some memorable dates this week in Blackhawks history:

  • Rookie Jonathan Toews got his 1st NHL career game winner on November 11, 2007 in a 3-2 decision over arch rival Detroit at the United Center. Also on the same date in 1970, the Hawks began a team record of 13 victories in a row on home ice that ran to December 20th, and in 1987, the Hawks erupted for 5 power play goals to tie a team mark and whip the Red Wings 6-3.
  • The Hawks' lone draft pick in 1968, John Marks, set a team record for the fastest 2 goals to start a game (33 seconds) on November 13, 1975 in a 5-5 tie at Philadelphia. Marks, who played both defense and forward, had a career high of 21 goals that season.
  • On November 13th John Gottselig, who played on the 1938 Hawk Stanley Cup team and later became coach, had the 2nd of his 2 career hat tricks in a 4-3 triumph over Montreal at the Chicago Stadium.
  • Steve Larmer notched the 1st of his 9 Hawk career hat tricks on November 14, 1982 in his rookie season as Chicago edged the Minnesota North Stars 5-4.
  • Rookie Kris Versteeg registered his 1st 2 goal NHL game on November 16, 2008 at the UC against San Jose.
  • The Blackhawks played their 1st game in the NHL on November 17, 1926 at the old Chicago Coliseum as they beat the Toronto St. Pats 4-1.
  • Patrick Sharp tallied his 1st NHL hat trick and added an assist in a 5-3 win over the Red Wings in Detroit on November 17, 2007. In the same game, former Wing Brent Sopel picked up his 1st multi-point effort in a Hawk uniform with 2 assists.
