Hogs drop 2-1 decision to the Stars
Cedar Park, Tex.- For the second straight night a one-goal game failed to swing the Rockford IceHogs way. Rockford fell 2-1 to the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center on Saturday, a night after dropping a 6-5 decision to the Stars in overtime.
The Stars struck first on Saturday late in period one. Ondrej Roman one-timed a Maxime Fortunas pass from on top of the right faceoff circle and Brandon Segal tipped it through traffic and underneath Alec Richards at 19:50 for the 1-0 advantage.
In the second period the Texas lead was extended to 2-0 with a power-play marker. Roman’s cross-ice pass was deflected by IceHogs winger Rob Klinkhammer, but past Richards and in at 8:57.

Rockford got a goal back in the third period as their power-play notched a tally for a fourth straight game. Shawn Lalonde’s blast from the point was redirected by Ryan Potulny past Richard Bachman and in for his 14th goal of the season at 5:56.
That was all Rockford managed, however, as they couldn’t convert with the extra attacker on in the final minute.
Rockford was outshot 26-24 in the contest and finished 1-5 on the power play while holding the Stars to 1-7 on the night.
