Teddy Bear Toss, Kris Versteeg Bobblehead Night Slated for Saturday

TEDDY BEAR TOSS 01

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs return home to the BMO Harris Bank Center Saturday for a promo-packed home game against the Milwaukee Admirals. It will be the first time the IceHogs are seeing the Admirals this season and the contest marks the return of the team’s annual Teddy Bear Toss along with the long-awaited Kris Versteeg bobblehead giveaway.

SATURDAY, DEC.7 VS. MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS

Time: Puck drop is at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Teddy Bear Toss: Fans are encouraged to bring in plush toys/animals to throw onto the ice after the IceHogs score their first goal of the game on Saturday. The stuffed animals will then be collected and donated to local hospitals and kids charities, with IceHogs players and staff delivering a portion of the toys. There are over 20 organizations that receive the stuffed animals, and last year the Hogs collected and donated more than 3,300 plush toys.

PLEASE NOTE: If the IceHogs do not score a goal through the first two periods of Saturday’s game, fans will be invited to toss their stuffed animals onto the ice during the second intermission after chuck-a-puck.

Kris Versteeg Bobblehead Giveaway: The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free bobblehead of two-time Stanley Cup champion Kris Versteeg, courtesy of Rock Valley Culligan. The former IceHogs captain is featured celebrating a goal in a Hogs uniform.

Bernie’s Bears: Chicago Blackhawks Vice President, Hockey Operations/Team Affiliates and IceHogs General Manager, Mark Bernard, will be leading the “Bernie’s Bears” initiative in support of local charities during the month of December. Mark and his wife, Julie, are donating a teddy bear for each goal the Hogs scored in November. The Hogs capped the month with 42 goals through 12 games.

Mark and Julie are challenging local businesses and families to match the donation in an effort to make this year’s Teddy Bear Toss the largest in IceHogs history. Those interested should contact the IceHogs front office at icehogs@icehogs.com or (815) 986-6468. Participants will be recognized on the BMO Harris Bank Center video board during Saturday’s matchup.
