IceHogs All-Time Leader in Games For Defensemen Claimed by Vancouver Canucks
Chicago, Ill.- Defenseman Ryan Stanton was claimed off waivers by the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks.
Stanton is the Rockford IceHogs all-time leader in games by a defenseman with 224. Stanton won team awards in each of his three full seasons in Rockford, winning the Most Improved Player award in 2010-11 and the Top Defenseman in both 2011-12 and 2012-13. He finishes his IceHogs career with 60 points (9g-51a).
The St. Albert, Alberta native was signed as a free agent on March 12, 2010 and made his Rockford debut at the end of the 2009-10 season after spending five years with the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL). Stanton is seventh all-time in Rockford for points (60) by a defenseman as well as sixth in assists (51). With 332 PIMs, Stanton ranks second all-time. He made his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks on April 27, 2013 in St. Louis.
