St. Pierre Named AHL Player of the Month

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Rockford IceHogs center Martin St. Pierre has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Month for November. St. Pierre recorded seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points, along with a plus-5 rating, in 13 games for the IceHogs last month.

St. Pierre’s month featured a seven-game scoring streak from Nov. 3-18, during which time he registered 15 points. On Nov. 3, St. Pierre assisted on both Rockford goals, including the game-winner in the third period, in a 2-1 win vs. Manitoba. On Nov. 11, St. Pierre scored two goals and assisted on three others as the IceHogs defeated San Antonio, 8-3.

He came back with a goal and two assists at Rochester on Nov. 16, and scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Syracuse on Nov. 17. St. Pierre had another three-point night at Chicago on Nov. 24, and finished the month with a goal and an assist at Providence on Nov. 30.

In recognition of his achievement, St. Pierre will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming IceHogs home game.

St. Pierre is currently tied for third in the AHL in scoring with 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) in 20 games for Rockford this season. He was selected a First Team AHL All-Star in 2006-07, when he notched 99 points in just 65 games with Norfolk. A 24-year-old native of Embrun, Ont., St. Pierre has recorded 63 goals and 143 assists for 206 points in 180 career AHL games, and also has four points (1g, 3a) in 16 career NHL contests, all with Chicago.
