Two contests slated for Week 25 for Rockford

Week 24 Recap
A two-game Week 24 set for the Rockford IceHogs against the Houston Aeros didn’t clear a whole lot up. The Hogs and Aeros split the series and Rockford is still stuck in a tight West Division playoff race. Another light two-game week is on tap for the IceHogs during Week 25 as a pair of home games are slated.

Friday, March 21 vs. Quad City, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 22 vs. Milwaukee, 7:05 p.m.

Bacon Bits:
-Rockford has just four more road games remaining on its 2007-08 regular season schedule

-Defenseman Tyson Marsh scored his first career AHL goal on Saturday in Houston

-Winger Petri Kontiola has an assist in six straight games dating back to Feb. 24, matching an IceHogs season high

-Winger Derek Nesbitt has points in seven of his last nine games totaling 6g-5a-11pts

-IceHogs goalie Wade Flaherty has made seven appearances this season in which he did not receive a decision

-Flaherty has started five straight games for Rockford and has a record of 3-1-0-0 during that stretch with a 2.42 goals against average and a .928 save percentage

-With their power-play goal on Wednesday in Houston, the IceHogs snapped the Aeros stretch of 46 power plays without giving up a goal

-Rockford went 3-for-9 against Houston on the power play in two games last week

-In Saturday’s 3-2 loss against Houston, four different defensemen accumulated all five goals

-Those four defenseman have combined for 12 goals overall this season

-Rockford has nine different players who have more than 12 goals this season

-Winger Troy Brouwer became the 10th player in IceHogs history to hit the 30 goal plateau when he notched this 30th marker of the season on Thursday

Hot Hog Week 24:
Rockford goalie Wade Flaherty turned in his second shutout of the season during Week 24 and helped the IceHogs earn a split in Houston against the Aeros. Flaherty turned away 23 Aeros shots to earn his 298th career win and 32nd career shutout on Thursday.

Upcoming Games:
Friday, March 21 vs. Quad City Flames. Game time is slated or 7:30 p.m. The Hogs meet up with the Flames for the final MetroCentre meeting of the season. The IceHogs, along with Comcast, welcome SpongeBob SquarePants to the game. Kids can meet and take pictures with the popular Nickelodeon cartoon character.

Saturday, March 22 vs. Milwaukee Admirals. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs match-up with the Admirals for the final time at home this season. The first 1,000 fans to the game will pick up a Puckhead Bobblehead courtesy of ComEd and 23 WIFR. Also, following the game fans can bring their skates and skate with the IceHogs. The “Skate With The Hogs” is presented by CoCo Key Water Resort.
