Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have assigned forwards Mark McNeill, Garret Ross and Alex Broadhurst, defensemen Dylan Olsen, Klas Dahlbeck and Adam Clendening, and goaltender Kent Simpson to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
McNeill, Ross and Simpson are returning to Rockford after short stints with the team at the end of the 2012-13 season.
Olsen, 22, is coming back to Rockford for his fourth season. The defenseman has 6g-16a in parts of three seasons with Rockford. Olsen was the Chicago Blackhawk’s first round selection (#28 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Dahlbeck will be joining the IceHogs for his second season after coming over from Sweden prior to the 2012-13 campaign. He totaled 1g-5a and was named Rockford’s Most Improved Player for 2012-13. Dahlbeck was drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round (#79 overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Clendening is also returning for his second campaign with Rockford after a stellar rookie season in 2012-13 when he was named a 2nd team AHL All-Star and Rockford’s Rookie of the Year. He finished third in scoring for defensemen in the AHL with 46 points and led all defensemen by tallying 37 assists last season.
The Blackhawks have also released defenseman Viktor Svedberg from training camp. Svedberg, who is under contract with Rockford, will report to IceHogs training camp.
In addition, the Blackhawks have assigned forward Teuvo Teravainen to Jokerit of SM-liiga in Finland and forward Ryan Hartman to the Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers.
The IceHogs roster is now up to 26 skaters including 12 forwards, 12 defensemen and two goaltenders. The IceHogs will be playing their first preseason game on Wednesday, Sept. 25th at West Meadows Ice Arena against the Chicago Wolves.
