SEVEN ICEHOGS RELEASED FROM BLACKHAWKS CAMP ROSTER

Rockford, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that forwards Tyler Barnes, Bryn Chyzyk, Jeremy Langlois, Evan Mosey, defensemen Jonathan Carlsson, Nick Mattson and goaltender Eric Levine have been released from their tryout agreements. All these American Hockey League contracted players will report to the IceHogs, who begin training camp on Sunday, Oct. 2.

Barnes, 26, joins Rockford after playing in 69 games for the ECHL’s Missouri Mavericks last season. He posted 24 goals, tied for second on the club, and 37 assists for a team-leading 61 points to go along with 32 penalty minutes (PIM). Barnes appeared in 10 postseason games with Missouri, leading the team with five goals while finishing third with eight points. He has scored four goals in 11 AHL games with Bridgeport, Grand Rapids, and San Antonio.

Carlsson, 27, recorded nine points (2g-7a) in 25 games last season - his second stint in Rockford. He also notched one goal in two Calder Cup Playoff appearances. Prior to joining the IceHogs during the 2015-16 campaign, the Uppsala, Sweden native registered a goal and four assists in 46 contests with the Evansville IceMen of the ECHL. Carlsson was drafted by the Blackhawks in the sixth round (#162 overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Chyzyk, 23, skated with the University of North Dakota for the past four seasons (2012-16), notching 47 points (24g-23a) in 128 games. He capped off his collegiate career by helping the Fighting Hawks win the NCAA National Championship on April 10, 2016. As a senior last season, he finished third on the team with 12 goals and ranked seventh with 22 points in 42 games. He also finished tied for first on the squad with two shorthanded goals.

Langlois, 26, spent the last two seasons with the San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate – Worcester Sharks (2014-15) and San Jose Barracuda (2015-16). The 26 year-old collected 12 goals and 22 assists in 68 contests with the Barracuda last season. The Tempe, Arizona native has compiled 30 goals and 34 assists across 122 career AHL games.

Levine, 27, joined the IceHogs at the end of the 2015-16 season, but did not appear in a game. He played in 19 games for the Colorado Eagles (ECHL), going 10-7-0 with four shutouts, a .915 save percentage and a 2.30 goals-against average (GAA). A native of Wheeling, Ill., Levine also appeared in four games in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) last season, going 1-2-0 with the Pensacola Ice Flyers and Louisiana IceGators. Levine has played in 29 ECHL contests with the Fort Wayne Komets, Indy Fuel, Utah Grizzlies, and Colorado since the 2014-15 season, earning a 14-9-1 record with four shutouts, a 2.67 GAA, and .909 save percentage.

Mattson, 24, played in 17 games for the IceHogs last season, his first as a pro, scoring seven points on one goal and six assists to go along with a +4 plus/minus rating. He also added an assist in two playoff performances. In addition to his time with Rockford last season, Mattson skated in 48 games with the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Indy Fuel. He notched one goal and added 14 assists for 15 points as well as 14 PIM while in Indy.

Mosey, 27, recently completed his second season with the Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL where he compiled 17 goals and 31 assists in 63 games. The Downers Grove, Ill. native ranked tied for third best on the team, with former IceHog Andy Bohmbach, with 48 points.
