Seven Former IceHogs Participating In Winter Olympics
IceHogs fans may have recognized some familiar names when watching the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan over the past week. Seven IceHogs Alumni are currently representing their home nations in the two-week event.
Five different nations will be represented by former IceHogs as NHL players return to the international tournament for the first time since the 2014 winter games.

Czechia:
Defenseman Jan Rutta had a brief stint with the Blackhawks and IceHogs appearing in 88 total games with the organization. Rutta appeared in over 400 NHL games throughout his career and won two Stanley Cup's with Tampa Bay.
Finland:
Teuvo Teravainen spent 44 games with the IceHogs before helping the Blackhawks claim the 2015 Stanley Cup. Teravainen returned to Chicago this season and has appeared in over 800 NHL games. The former IceHog forward has one assist in the tournament. Defenseman Henri Jokiharju has also collected an assist for Finland in this years tournament. Jokiharju spent 30 games with Rockford in the 2018-19 season.
Germany:
Lukas Reichel collected 126 points through 140 games with the IceHogs over three seasons. The former IceHog has collected one goal as Germany prepares to take on France in the Qualification round.
Switzerland:
Center Philipp Kurashev appeared in 42 games over three seasons with the IceHogs and 317 games with the Blackhawks. Kurashev has a goal and assist as Switzerland will play Italy in the Qualification round.
Sweden:
Gustav Forsling has a goal and assist as Sweden will take on Latvia in the Qualification round. Forsling skated in 122 games with Chicago and 53 games with Rockford over three seasons.
The IceHogs had a franchise-record 11 alumni appear in the 2022 Winter Olympic games. Including this year's 7 players, 28 IceHogs have represented their country in the Olympics. The remainder of the 2026 Olympic Men's hockey schedule can be found here.
