Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs came up just short to the Colorado Eagles Saturday, losing 2-1 inside the BMO Center.

For the second straight night, the Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period. 3:32 in, Colorado's Taylor Makar converted off a Rockford turnover in the defensive zone to give the Eagles an early lead.

While skating four-on-four later in the frame, it was Makar again who doubled the lead. The forward got some space in the slot and beat Rockford's Drew Commesso to the glove side.

Three minutes into the 2nd period, Samuel Savoie sent the teddy bears flying with his third goal of the weekend. The IceHogs winger skated down the boards, cut to the crease and had his shot roll past Colorado's Isak Posch.

Rockford pushed for the equalizer in the 3rd and pulled Commesso late, but couldn't find the tying goal in the waining moments.

Up next, the IceHogs travel to Iowa to take on the Wild next Wednesday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. inside the Casey's Center. Rockford returns home to the BMO Center on Friday, December 12 with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop hosting the Milwaukee Admirals. It's a $2 Beer and Soft Drink Night with tickets available at icehogs.com.
