Morin pots a pair to lead Hogs to 4-1 over Iowa

Des Moines, Iowa- Jeremy Morin continued his tear in February, tallying twice, to lead Rockford to a 4-1 win over the Iowa Wild at the Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday night.

Morin, extended his point streak to 10-straight games, the same number of consecutive games with a point for Rockford (9-0-0-1), all coming in February.

In their previous three matchups with the Wild, Rockford tallied 17 goals and they wasted little time on Tuesday getting on the board. Just 41-seconds into the contest, Garret Ross found Joakim Nordstrom in front of the Iowa goal and the center buried his 15th marker of the season.

Rockford dominated the first 10-minutes of play, but couldn't stretch their lead as Iowa tied the game at 9:29. Jonathan Blum picked up a loose puck and his point shot deflected off of the stick of Rockford's Jared Nightingale and over Jason LaBarbera for Blum's seventh goal of the season.

The Iowa goal didn't slow Rockford, however, as they would outshoot the Wild 17-5 in the opening frame and grabbed a 2-1 lead late in the period. Morin stretched his team-best point streak to 10-straight games when he fired home a rebound past a sprawled out John Curry at 18:08 for his 19th goal of the season. Morin outshot the Wild by himself in the first period, 6-5.

In the third period, Morin pushed Rockford's lead to 3-1 with a 5-on-3 power play goal. The winger blasted home a Brandon Pirri pass from on top of the left faceoff circle for his team-leading 20th goal of the season.

Klas Dahlbeck added another insurance marker when he cranked in his tenth tally of the season at 16:15, helped by Zach Miskovic and Drew LeBlanc.

LaBarbera earned his seventh straight victory while stopping 19 Iowa shots, and his third straight one-goal against performance. Curry was solid in net despite the four goals allowed as he turned away 33 Rockford shots.

Next Home Game: Tuesday, March 4 against Rochester Americans. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. It is a WXRX Dollar Day and all fans in attendance can receive $1 hot dogs, soft drinks, beers and companion tickets.
